| Yeah, it's done. It ended up being a ratings disaster for The CW, and I don't think the network had any faith in it from a creative standpoint, which is why it was pushed back from mid-season to a summer release. Once the network decided to air its final episode on July 4, you had to know they were done with it.
Kind of a shame, really, as the show was fun in a completely campy way. It was hardly ever original, made little-to-no-sense, and was poorly acted by more than one main character (not Michael Cassidy as Cliff, though -- he really came into his own and was deliciously evil and awesome), yet it was willing to go completely over-the-top and throw every plot twist imaginable at the viewer, and I appreciate that.
Kevin Williamson said he could envision where the show was going for at least four years, although I could never imagine the show lasting that long. After such a wild opening run, it could never believably ground itself in the trials and tribulations of high school. |
