I think what your all forgetting is that Josh is still not married and Meredith may be looking to get out of her 9 year marriage to Steven Kavovit more than Katie woulod be looking to get out of hers to Tom, so one day Meredith is strutting around all divorcee and suddenly sees Josh, she gently (violently) nudges Diane Kruger so she falls from her pedastal, Josh sweeps her up in his arms and Pacey and Andie live on in my heart for ever and ever.... A much more convincing love story than P/J or D/J!!
