I think Pacey and Andie should have gotten back together. They had so much depth in their relationship. Even after Andie had gotten better she still needed Pacey, and Pacey needed Andie. His Junior year slip that almost cost him graduating proved that he still needed the belief that he was better then what people kept telling him he was. He needed that from help from Andie.
I think he did get past Andie's cheating. I believe in the sceen where he is drunk on the peir, and he falls causing everything he had that reminded him of Andie fall in the water, reminded him of how much he needed that girl. I mean the look on his face as the photo of the two of them together slowly sank, you could see it in his eyes. He knew that he needed Andie. He just realized that she had come to not needing him. Or atleast thats what he believed as he watched his final reminder of Andie slowly slip from his reach. So I think he did get over it. He just made himself believe it was to late.
I think if Andie would have tried to ease back into Pacey's life slower then she did. I think it would have caused Pacey to slip into his normal roles of being the Black Sheep. I think if she would have approached him after that had happened, she could have slowly rebuilt the relationship they once had. It wouldn't be the same. It could never be the same after that. The problem that was facing them was differant, and she needed to let Pacey come to her. He would have eventualy. He was still in love with her. He just needed to process how to deal with the issue. She just tried pushing to hard to fast.
For them to be a couple again it would have taken some time. They needed to find a way to remember the way things were, re-evaluate their situation, and realize that they were not the same people apart as they were together. Friendship, needed to be re-established. Andie thought just trying to jump back into the swing of the way thing were would help. She didn't let Pacey deal with Pacey. She let it slip that Pacey can deal with anyone and anything, he just couldn't deal with himself. If she would have helped him deal with the way he felt about himself afterwards, instead of the way she wanted to feel. They would have gotten back together. |
