| Slyn11,
Kevin Williamson who created the show and worked on it for the first year came back to film the final episode after James Vander Beak and Katie Holmes requested that he do the final episode (since Dawson's Creek was his creation and based loosly on his life). According to stuff I heard when the filming was coming to an end the script he wrote originally had Dawson and Joey ending up together in the end. Supposedly in the 11th hour Paul Stupin talked Williamson out of it because of the way the storyline played out over the series it seemed more natural for Joey to end up with Pacey. There is a scene in the final episode at a gas station where Dawson sees Joey for first time. He is taking a call from one of the the writters of "The Creek" (Dawson's show) who wants to talk to him about changing the ending of the season ending cliff hanger. As Joey is leaving, Dawsons says to the writer on the other line (about the season cliff hanger) "so what do you want to change?". After hearing the information about the rumored change in the shows ending I always wondered if that was kind of a parallel of what happened in real life that they threw into the final episode of Dawson's Creek?
P.S - I give it about 10 minute before Jimi jumps in and tells me I am high on crack and accuses me of never even watching the show  |
