| After watching Season 4 and the Kiss in Coda, and I got to thinking about the start of Season 5... You know Dawson and Joey's 2 or 3 attempt at a relationship and things seemed to be going good... but I never really got why after his father's death, he pushed Joey away and if I remember right shortly after he started up a relationship with Jen.......
Does anyone have any suggestion here..... |

| The only thing I could think of to answer why Dawson pushed Joey away after Mitch's death was perhaps she reminded him way too much of his father. What I mean is, Joey and Dawson grew up together...remember the video of them being introduced to each other and who was in there too??? Mitch. They were both over and each other's houses all the time, so much that Mitch put that darn ladder up for her! Perhaps having Joey around so much brought a constant flow ot memories of Dawson's father and therefore caused him constant pain and sadness? And since Jen came into the picture so much later in his life, Dawson might have felt a stronger connection to her at this time. Just my thoughts... |

| Hey,
I have to respond on this one.. S5 was one of my favorite seasons. [b:67191db2d4]dawsonsbiggestfan[/b:67191db2d4] you're on the right path. Joey does remind him of his childhood and his father and that was too much to bear at that time. But the main reason he pushes Joey away is because he can't get over the feeling of blaming her (or their re-kindled relationship) for Mitch's death.
He blames himself as well. If he doesn't drop out of school his father doesn't die. He is not able to escape this feeling whenever he is around Joey. That is why he gravates to Jen.... He is able to feel good around her, and not think about all the things surrounding his father's death. She was there for him when he needed someone the most...thats why Dawson started up a relationship with Jen. |

| First of all, IMO that's was the meanliest way of all previous and post to
separate Dawson and Joey."Congrat " :  to writers!
Second of all, I think Dawson pushed Joey away b/c he blamed not only
himself, but Joey as well for his father's death. If you remember he left
USC b/c of Joey(of course b/c he "didn't love her" :  and his father has strongly disagred with this decision of Dawson. They had a big fought
after which Dawson went to Boston to be with girl "he didn't truly love" (in P/Jers opinion of course) .The
rest what happened we all know.Of course there is a fact that Joey being
around him reminds him a lot of his father, but maybe reminds him even
more how big his guilty for the father's death is.
And third of all when he started relationship with Jen again, made me,
for the first time, real mad on him : :  IMO this was his big mistake
no matter how bad he felt at that time.He shouldn't have done that in
any circumstances. He knew that his father's death hurt not only him,but
Joey as well. And,as he is being overthinking guy he must know and he
actually knew how much more Joey would be hurt by his and Jen's affair.
But,inspite knowing that, he started that foolish affair with the girl he
didn't love at that time.I know that in that relationship he tried to find a kind of piece for his wounded heart, but what's really happened was he
wounded himself much more. And of course open the door for a "running"
girl to getaway from him, again. :(
Also I was mad on Jen even more and for the first time complitely dislike her.B/c she,as well as Dawson, was not a kid any more and had to be
more responsable for herself actions. She didn't love Dawson, she take
adventige of him being wulnerabile at that time, she knew how badly Joey
would be hurted, but she did it.No excuse at all for both of them,at least
not for me. |

| I agree with you guys on why Dawson didn't stay with Joey. I thnks it's just so sad because he was there for her when her mom died, and she tried to be there for him but wasn't able to be because of the circumstances. You could see and feel the awkwardness after his death...
However, I don't blame Dawson or Jen for getting together (and it's not because I'm a P/J'er). I agree with what Joey said - that she was glad someone could be there for him. I'm sure she was hurt by it, but she understood and was ok with it (I think). And Jen did love Dawson, just not in a 'true love' way...so she was able to help him. And I think her insecurity issues helped distract Dawson. |
