Okay, so after a long delay, I've finally written part 2 to my 7th season. I don't know if I'll keep it going for seven episodes like I originally planned because it's tough. I have some good endings in mind but getting there is a pain. Anyway, when we last left, Pacey had told Dawson he planned on asking Joey to marry him and Jack dealt with an unruly student. The episode ended with FAGGOT keyed in Jack's car. Who did it? Will Pacey and Joey find true love? What about Dawson? Well, let's see how it unfolds...

(Scene: Jack is sitting at the breakfast table feeding Amy. He feeds her and then takes a bite of food himself. Doug comes and sits down.) Doug: Feeling better today? Jack: Should I? Doug: Just hoping. Jack: I was too. Then, I got out of bed and remembered the car was still keyed, people are still assholes, and I’m still gay. Doug: Jack. Jack (sternly): Doug. Doug: Fine, wallow in self-pity. But don’t worry. We’ll figure out who did it. We’ll get the person. That person will pay. And we can move on with our lives. Jack: Don’t take this lightly. Doug: I’m not but I can’t help but remember a person who I dated once. A person who challenged me to step-up and not be ashamed. A person who told me that the world was ignorant and that all we could do is just keep going. What happened to that person, Jack? Jack: I’m still that same person. Just angry today. I mean, I know who did it. Doug: Now you don’t that Chris did it. Jack: Okay, think about it…I call him out in class for making gay comments, I give him detention, and I lecture him on the merits of homosexuality. Plus, his mom calls and says I hit on him. It adds up. Doug: Seems a little contrived, no? Jack: Maybe, but it’s the truth. Doug: Well we’re working on it. We’ll track down whoever did it and they’ll be dealt with accordingly. Jack: I just can’t help but feel that’s an empty promise. Doug: Why would I make an empty promise to you? Jack: It’s not just you. I’m talking about that notion is an empty promise in general. There’s just no way to eradicate this stuff completely. We try and we try and we try and there’s nothing that can be done. Doug: Jack I don’t like this side of you. Jack: You know, I don’t either, but when I’m dealing with this kind of stuff, it’s all I know. It’s like I can trust anyone or anything. Any preconceived notions I had of this town are completely wasted because it’s still the same stuff. (Jack stands up and walks to the sink where he dumps his food out and begins to wash the dish.) Doug: So that’s it? Jack: What’s it? Doug: That. That’s all there is to it. You’re just going to stand up and turn away from this entire thing. Jack: For now, yes. Doug: And what about your other students, huh? (Stands up and spins Jack around). What about the students who depend on you? What about those kids that you come home glowing about every night because you’ve seen the light in their eyes when they understand aliterfication or personileration or something? (Jack hangs his head and then smiles. He looks up.) Jack: I think you’re looking for personification and alliteration. Doug: That too. The point is that for every Chris you have, you have a hundred kids who need you and respect you. Don’t throw it all away just because you’re pretty sure this kid keyed your car with something you haven’t heard before. Jack: There’s just one really big problem. Doug: What’s that? Jack: I’m going to need a ride. My car’s in the shop. (Doug smiles and then he and Jack hug.) (Scene: Dawson’s bedroom in Capeside. He’s sitting on his bed reading over some papers. The ladder hits against the window and suddenly Joey appears. She climbs through and doesn’t fall in the window this time.) Joey: Wow, I made it in one piece this time. Dawson: I’m glad. What’s up? Joey: Just thought I’d stop by and see what you’re doing. (Sitting beside him.) Can I see? Dawson: Nothing too interesting. When I decided to take this vacation, I had the writers e-mail me some ideas, stuff we could use when we get back to the writers’ room in a few weeks. Joey: Anything striking you? Dawson: Well the idea that Colby should come out of the closet was pretty intriguing but I don’t think it’s quite up to snuff. Joey: I always thought that Colby would make a very interesting gay. Dawson: You did? (Looking shocked). Can I ask why? Joey: The sweater vests. Definitely the sweater vests. The kid needs a better wardrobe for high school. Dawson: We’re sponsored by the hippest clothing outlet in the country. I think he looks okay. What else? Joey: The hair. Has to be the hair. Dawson: What? What about the hair? Joey: Well it’s fine now but that big Farrah Fawcet hair-do that he had for a while, sheesh. Dawson: Okay, let’s stop protecting the guilty. Was I really that bad? Joey: Dawson, you’re handsome. You’re studly. You’re all the great adjectives that you want to be described as. Dawson: A hunk? Joey: No but that’s because that word is stupid. Dawson: Oh. Joey: As I was saying, you’re all those, but let’s face it, you had some questionable appearances in your day. Dawson: It’s the damned head. It’s not proportionate with the rest of my body. Joey: You got it honestly. Dawson: I know, my dad had a big noggin too, didn’t he? Joey: Noggin? Dawson: Sorry, stuck in the 1970s, I guess. I went to a disco party a few weeks ago. Joey: You did disco? Dawson: Scary to think about, huh? Joey: No, I knew you could dance. I just don’t like to think about dances. My track record with them hasn’t exactly been the best. Dawson: Mine wasn’t great, either. Joey: At least your senior prom went well. Dawson: Was that the one where the first adult relationship I ever had decided to end itself because she was too old and I was naïve and still chasing after my best friend? Joey: Right. We did suck. Dawson: Those hormones didn’t just alter the course of our relationship but they altered the course of our lives. (Joey finally sits down on the bed and leans against Dawson’s shoulder. He puts his arm around her in a completely platonic fashion.) Joey: Do you think it’s weird that we used to sleep in the same bed together? Dawson: Looking back? It’s kind of creepy. But the fact we never groped each other while we did it is pretty amazing. I think we deserve a pat on the back for that one. (Joey yawns and Dawson looks at her.) Dawson: What’s wrong? Joey: Pacey snores. And the LA to Capeside jet-lag isn’t easy to overcome. Dawson: Tell me about it. I’m still reeling from the season, too. It’s rough. (Joey starts to get up.) Dawson: Where are you going? Joey: I think I’m going to go back home and take a nap. Dawson: You can stay here. Joey: What? Dawson: No groping, I swear. Raging hormones won’t alter anything. (Joey bites her bottom lip and then smiles. She sits back down on the bed and then stretches out. Both Dawson and Joey close their eyes. The clock reveals that it is 1:30.) (Scene: Jack is sitting at his desk grading papers when the bell rings. He looks up and students begin to file in. Students begin to take up the desks and finally, after several minutes have passed [due to time-lapse camera work], all but one desk is full.) Jack: Has anyone seen Chris? (No answer.) Jack: I see you all heard about what happened. (No answer.) Jack: Okay, let’s break this down: does anyone know where Chris is? No answers, just a show of hands. (One kid raises his hand.) Jack: Okay, so someone knows. Now, Jon, are you going to share it? Jon: He transferred classes. Jack: This late in the semester? There’s only a month left. Jon: You and Mr. Revan are on the same curriculum. Your syllabi are identical. Mr. Wyatt figured it’d be okay, I guess. (Jack nods and then stares at the room.) (Scene: His face matches identically to the face he was making as he stared at his class. This time he is looking into his teacher’s mailbox. He pulls a few envelopes out and shuffles through some fliers and envelopes. He starts to walk away and then pauses. He sets down most of the mail only holding on to a folded piece of paper. He begins to unfold it and then his eyes grow wide as he reads: Jack McPhee, I’ve told you before that you will burn in hell. you should have gotten out while you could and not attempted to destroy our children with your countless cries of acceptance. You’re everything I hate. I won’t let you roam these halls any longer or endanger my blood. Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 Jack gulps and then breathes deeply. He folds the paper back up and then stuffs it in his pocket. He leaves the mailroom without taking his other mail and he enters the hallway. It’s after school so the hallways are empty with the exception of a janitor and a few kids who appear to be leaving detention. Jack stops at a locker and pounds his fists against it. He sinks back against the locker and crouches to the floor. A door opens. Jack looks down the hall and sees Chris leaving a classroom.) Jack: Chris! (Chris turns his head and sees Jack and then turns away.) Jack: Stop! (Chris’s pace picks up, but Jack’s does too. Chris is at a brisk walk down the hall and Jack jogs to chase him.) Jack: Get back here! (Chris pushes open a door and then takes off running. Jack picks up speed again and starts sprinting. He pushes through the door and runs around a corner. He loses sight of Chris but then slams hard into someone’s chest. Both Jack and the chest go flying back to the ground. Jack looks up and sees the principal, Mr. Wyatt, sitting on the ground looking at him.) Wyatt: What the hell is the meaning of this? Jack: Frank, listen…okay, hang on, let me catch my breath…okay, Frank. I had to catch up to Chris. Wyatt: Chasing a student down in the hallways isn’t exactly appropriate, Jack. Jack: Just look at this. (Jack hands Wyatt the note and he reads over it. They both stand up.) Wyatt: And what makes you think that Chris had anything to do with this? Jack: Oh cut the crap, Frank… Wyatt:…watch it. I’m your boss. Jack: Just read it. Tell me it doesn’t add up. This kid’s threatening me. Wyatt: You can’t prove it’s him and so chasing him down the hallway won’t do a bit of good. Be rational. Teachers get made fun of all the time. They got laughed at, ridiculed, hated, and despised constantly. I remember hearing about a Capeside student who spit in an English teacher’s face not so long ago. Stuff happens. You have to deal with it. Jack: This kid destroyed my property and now he’s threatening me with physical harm and taunting me with damnation. Wyatt: You don’t get any special treatment because of your sexuality. You chose this profession and you chose what to share with everyone and you have to deal with the consequences. Jack: So I should go back in the closet? Wyatt: It’s not like that. You just have to accept that no one’s giving you special treatment because of who you are. Even if this kid is acting out-of-line, that does not give you any reason to act the same. Be logical or be gone. (Wyatt walks off and Jack watches him walk away. He then turns and walks the opposite direction.) (Scene: Pacey is at the Potter B&B. He walks in and sees Bessie in the kitchen cleaning.) Pacey: Hey Bess. Bessie: Pacey, what are you up to? Pacey: You seen Jo? Bessie: No, sorry, I haven’t. Pacey: She left for the store earlier today and said she’d swing by the Icehouse this afternoon and never did. It’s almost six now. And I can’t get her on her cell, either. Bessie: I’m sure she’s fine. She knows this town too well to get in any trouble. Pacey: That’s true. And I’m pretty sure anyone who tried to kidnap her would change their mind pretty quickly after they got an earful of pissy Potter. Bessie: Exactly. Did you check Dawson’s? Pacey: I called him and couldn’t get an answer either. He was my next stop. Bessie: It’s cute you’re worried that she’s missing, you know. (Pacey grins a little and then turns to walk away.) Pacey (under his breath): I wish that’s what I was worried about. (Scene: Dawson and Joey are still lying on the bed and both are sleeping. Dawson’s arm is around Joey. Dawson opens his eyes and looks beside him and his eyes widen as he realizes that Joey’s still there. He looks at his bedside clock careful not to wake up Joey. He looks at the clock and sees that it’s 6:00 and then he sets the clock back down. He opens his mouth as if to wake her up, but then shuts it before any words come out. He just closes his eyes and attempts to go back to sleep.) (Scene: Jack is in his car driving and he’s on his cell phone.) Jack: I’ll be home soon enough, don’t worry…no, you don’t need to know what I’m doing…no you don’t…listen, if it were something important you’d get to know…yes, I’m being very smart…yes, I have an idea of what I’m doing…no, it’s nothing stupid—I just established that…I know it’s late but I just spent an hour on mapquest-dot-com looking up something…yes, I’m on my way somewhere…no you don’t need to know where…yes I’ll be careful…yes I’ll call you if I need something…yeah, I love you too, love to Amy, bye. (Jack hangs up his phone and then looks at a piece of paper taped above the radio: 134 County Line Road Jack grinds his teeth and continues driving.) (Scene: Pacey is outside the Leery house and he’s knocking. There’s no answer.) Pacey: If Eve can go in, I can go in, too. (He opens the door and then walks in. He calls out Dawson’s name a few times but to no avail. He walks up the stairs slowly. He looks in a few of the open rooms and sees no one. He finally arrives at Dawson’s door and then opens it. He looks in and sees Dawson and Joey sleeping on the bed. Neither Dawson or Joey moves from the bed. Pacey grimaces as if he’s in agony. There are no tears, but his face look as if they could produce tears at any second. He looks at his watch and then shuts the door behind him as he leaves. After he’s gone, Dawson opens his eyes and we realize that he’s been awake the whole time. Joey is the only one who’s asleep. Dawson looks at Joey, then at the door, then back at Joey, and then he closes his eyes.) (Scene: Jack turns down a drive way. It’s a long gravel driveway with a house near the front and two houses straight down the gravel path. Jack checks the mailbox number of the first house and then confirms it’s the same one he’s written down. He puts his car in park and then climbs out. He begins walking to the house and as he does, his pace becomes slower as if he’s hesitant. Finally, he picks his pace back up and he walks to the front door. He knocks and waits. And waits. He knocks one more time and finally there’s an answer at the door. It’s Chris.) Chris: What are you doing here? Jack: Just listen to me… (Chris goes to shut the door and then Jack sticks his arm between the wall and the door to block it from shutting.) Jack: Just hang on… Chris: I’ll call the cops. Jack: That’ll work well seeing as I’m dating the sheriff. And the fact that you keyed my car. And that you left this. (Jack hands the note to Chris and Chris seems completely shocked.) Chris: What the hell is this? Jack: Don’t play dumb. Chris: Seriously, I have no idea what this is. Jack: You didn’t write this? Chris: No, I didn’t. Jack: I don’t believe it. Chris: Why the hell are you acting like such a kid about this stuff? I made a few damn cracks about you and that’s it. You’re getting defensive as hell and it’s making me sick. Jack: You’re the one running from it. There’s obviously something you’re scared of. Chris: Listen, I didn’t write that note. I didn’t key your car. I didn’t ask to be transferred out of your class. I didn’t ask for anything like that. Doesn’t mean I don’t know something about it. Jack: What are you talking about? (The camera moves behind Chris’s head and faces Jack. There’s a shadow that comes behind Chris and a female voice booms.) Voice: Hello Jack. Jack: Oh my God. (Scene: Dawson has fallen back asleep but Joey wakes up. She checks her watch and jumps up.) Joey: Oh my God, Dawson! (Dawson slowly wakes up.) Dawson: What? Joey: It’s almost seven. Dawson: So? Joey: We’ve been here for almost six hours. I told Pacey I’d swing by today and that I’d call him and just…no, I’ve gotta go. He’s going to be really worried. (Joey jumps out of bed.) Dawson: You’re not worried about Pacey, are you? Joey: What? What are you talking about? Dawson: You’re worried because you’re here. You’re worried because you spent time with me, someone who’s not Pacey. You’re worried because you fell asleep in my arms today. Joey: It was just friendly. Dawson: Maybe, but you’re worried it wasn’t. Joey: Don’t be so self-involved, Dawson. Dawson: Joey, you just jumped off the bed like you missed your call to war. There’s something more. It doesn’t take a fancy college degree to recognize that. There has to be something more. Joey: Goodbye, Dawson. (Joey rushes out of the room.) (Scene: Pacey is sitting on his couch at home. He’s thumbing through a magazine. Joey comes in the door and calmly sits down beside him.) Joey: Hey, Pace. Pacey: Hey, Jo. (They kiss.) Pacey: Where’ve you been? Joey: Asl…a slave to the city. All around town. Pacey: Thought you were going to stop by the Icehouse. Joey: I was, but then something came up. Some things. Pacey: I understand. Are you hungry? Joey: No, I grabbed something a little while ago. (Joey looks down and then looks back at Pacey.) Joey: Actually, I’m not feeling so well. I’m kind of tired. I think I want to go to bed. Pacey: At seven? Joey: Like I said, I don’t feel well. And it was a long day. (She kisses Pacey.) Joey: Wake me up before you go to sleep. I love you, Pace. (She stands up.) Pacey: I love you too Jo. (He watches her walk off and then when she’s gone, he turns his attention to a picture on the mantle. It’s Pacey, Dawson, and Joey from 10th grade. Pacey bites his lip in despair.)

Wow, this was even better than your first one! But Duke....why'd you make Dawson so evil? Even [i:f0d2ec5858]I[/i:f0d2ec5858] didn't like him in this episode.

I thought it was really great!! But I have to agree that Dawson was semi-evil.

I had some more stuff planned out, another few scenes where I worked on Dawson and explained him better but got tired of writing, I have to admit. I'll get into it more the next couple of episodes. Don't worry, I'd never completely bash Dawson...he's got his reasons, trust me.
