Last time on Dawson’s creek:
Pacey: You're off the hook.
Joey: What?
Pacey: You're off the hook. I've never really put much faith in all that "If you love someone, set them free" crap, as evidences by everything I've done in my life up to this very moment, but I am determined to be happy, Joey. Happy in this life. And I love you. I mean, I always-- I have always, always loved you. But our timing has just never been right. And the way I figure it, time is no man's friend. So I have to get right with that and be happy, now. Because this is it. I mean, this is all that we get. If there's one thing I've learned from losing Jen, that's what I've learned.
Joey: You know, for the record, I-- [Sniffles] I don't want to be let off the hook. Because everything in my life that I've done has led me here... right now, and the last thing I want, need, or deserve is to be let off somebody's hook.
Pacey: Please don't miss my point here 'cause-
Joey: And don't miss mine. Pacey... I love you. You know that. And it's very real. It's so real that it's kept me moving, mostly running from it, never ready for it. And I love Dawson. He's my soul mate. He's tied to my childhood, and it's a love that is pure and eternally innocent. I can't be let off the hook because I might just get the notion that it's ok to keep running.
Pacey *on message*: Hey Jo, its Pacey.....um....we need to talk about what we were talking about earlier. I have a feeling that what you were going to say was big and would change everything, and I need to hear it. Doug is out for the evening patching things up with Jack so I’m here all evening. So give me a call when you get this and if you want to come over and talk I’m here. I guess that’s it. Talk to you then. Bye.
*Joey smiles to herself and starts to dial his number*
*It rings once no answer.......twice no answer.....third no answer...and just as she about to hang up Pacey answers*
Pacey: Hello?
Joey: Hi I got your message and I was hoping to come over and talk to you now...that is if you’re not busy.
Pacey: No I’m not busy. I was just taking a shower.
Joey: Oh. Well I can be there in about 15 minutes. How does that sound?
Pacey: That sounds great! I’ll see you then.
Joey: Ok see you then!
*Joey hangs up her starts the car and heads over to Paceys house*
Joey: *sighing she knew this was going to come up eventually* Well you heard about my boyfriend in New York that I had been dating for a year right?
*Pacey nodded and waited for Joey to continue*
Joey (continued): Well this weekend would have been our one year anniversary and he was planning on going to a cabin for this weekend and he said that it would be a weekend to remember. And I didn’t think anything of it at the time but as I was packing for the both of us I found a box in the drawer and I opened it to see what was in it and I found a ring in it.
Pacey: What??! You mean....you mean he was going to ask you to marry him??
Joey: Yes. But I told him that I needed to come back here and see my family and friends and I needed to do it alone. And I didn’t tell him that I found the ring.
Pacey: If you had gone to the cabin and he asked you to marry him, would you have said yes?
Joey: No!! Because I realized that I was still in love with you even though Chris and I had been living together for a year I could marry him it just wouldn’t have been right because I gave my heart to you along time ago and you never really gave it back and I didn’t want you to give it back to me. My heart is a fixed point it has been and it always will be. It never left you Pace, and it’s not going to leave you anytime soon as far as I can see.
Joey: You are the writer.
Dawson: Yeah. This writer has decided it doesn't matter how it ends... because fiction is fiction, and for the first time, in a long time... [Sighs] My life is real. It doesn't matter who ends up with whom. Because in some unearthly way... it's always going to be you and me.
Joey: Soul mates.
Dawson: What we have goes beyond friendship, beyond lovers. It's forever.
Joey: [Softly] yes, it is. I love you, Dawson.
Dawson: I love you, too, Joey.
[The hear giggling and they turn around to see Lilly up in Dawson’s room, and Alexander at the bottom of the ladder.]
Lily: Come on, Alexander! Come on! Only a few more steps! You can do it!
Joey: [Laughs] you and me, always.
Dawson: Always.
Joey: Now that we have our friendship back on track *pause* I need to tell you something Dawson.
Dawson: What is it Jo?
Joey: I still love Pacey Dawson. And I think he is going to move in with me...and I hope you can understand.....
Dawson: Jo, I understand. I saw the way you looked at each other they night when we all got together for dinner. I know that you still love him and I meant what I said, it doesn’t matter who you end up with as long as you’re happy, that’s all that I want is for you and Pacey to be happy.
Joey: *smiles* Wow.
Dawson: What?
Joey: I didn’t.....I mean....wow you have changed!
Dawson: Yea well life happens I guess *smile to himself because that’s what Pacey said to him the night before the wedding* and it changes you.
Joey: You know what Dawson? I think Pacey would love to hear that from you. I think he would be very happy to hear that you are okay with everything. I think he would really appreciate it.
Dawson *smiles* Maybe I will

*Joey comes home to see no one at the door. She was hoping Pacey would be there but he wasn’t. But she did realize that Bessie and Bodie were home so she decided to try and see if she could talk to them about the Ice House. She enters to a busy Bessie and a busy Bodie and she take of her coat starts to talk*
Joey: Hey Bess I’m home!
Bessie: Hey Jo, how did it go with Pacey?
Joey: It went really well actually um but there’s something that Pacey and I need to talk to you and Bodie about is there a time when we can get together and talk?
Bessie: Yea um the B&B is not that busy tonight so why don’t we talk tonight at about 8:00?
Joey: Ok. I'll call Pacey and ask him to be here at 8.
*Joey heads towards the phone and starts dialing the camera fades*
*OPENING CREDITS*
*commercial break*
*Joey, Pacey, Bessie and Bodie are all sitting in the family room and they are talking*
Bessie: Can I offer any coffee or anything to drink?
Joey and Pacey: No thank you Bess.
*laughs*
Bessie Ok just thought I would ask. So what do you want to talk about?
*They sit in silence for a moment and then Joey speaks up*
Joey: Well as you both know Pacey and I are together again.
*Bessie and Bodie nod*
Joey: (continued) well...
*Pacey interrupts*
Pacey: We would like to live together. But you see the problem is is that I would like to live with Joey in NY but I have the Ice House here, as you know and I would like to keep it running and I was wondering if you could take over the restaurant. If you don’t want to take over all of it I can give you half of the ownership and if you would like me to we could make a deal when I could come here every other weekend or something and see how things are going. And if you need additional help during the week we have asked Gale’s husband if he could help out if you needed it and he said sure. So what do you think? You don’t have to answer right away but we are just asking for your help.
*The room gets quiet*
Bessie: Well let me and Bodie talk it over in the other room and we will be back in a few minutes ok?
Joey and Pacey: Yea sure go ahead!
*Bessie and Bodie walk out leave Pacey and Joey alone.*
Pacey: What have you been doing since you came to see me?
Joey: Well I came home and no one was home so then I decided to go and see Dawson.
Pacey: And how did that go?
Joey: Surprisingly well actually! We got our friendship back on track and then I told him about us.
Pacey: Oh man and how did that go?
Joey: He was ok with it. He said that it didn’t matter who ended up with whom and that he just wanted me to be happy!
Pacey: Really?! Wow our friend Dawson has really changed.
Joey: *smiling* That’s what I said to him when he said that and you know what he said?
Pacey: What?
Joey: He said Life happens and it changes you.
Pacey: He got that saying from me; I said that to him that night we all got together for dinner after you left and we were talking.
*they kiss*
*Bessie and Bodie come back into the room and sit down*
Bodie: We would love to help you out! I will take care of the Ice House at night and Mike could take care of it at night. And it would be nice if you could come down like one or two weekends a month to make sure we are ok.
Joey: Awesome! Thank you guys soooo much.
Pacey: Yea it means a lot to us it really does!
Bessie: We are happy to help out anyway we can if it means that you guys can be together.
*And with that they all get up chat for a little while longer and then they each hug each other and then Pacey leaves but not before kissing Joey goodbye!* |
