I wish that they had filmed an alternate DJ ending for the DVD, because knowing that Joey screws Dawson over yet again and chooses Pacey kind of ruins the show for me. Like, it makes it hard for me to watch earlier episodes knowing what happens.
I've been thinking about the ending and I think (or hope) that maybe Joey chooses Pacey at that moment, but she knows it's not going to be permanent.
She tells Dawson that he is her soul mate because they both know that while she may be picking Pacey right now, it's temporary and that eventually she'll inevitably end up with Dawson, and that's why the writers keep saying that the ending worked out for everyone. Sort of like another classic Joey "I need to find myself" moment. In her past relationships, she never really chooses Dawson over the other option, but she always comes back to him and this will be no exception. Does that make sense to anyone? |
