Don't be. It set ABC Family records when it debuted. It wouldn't stand a chance on a network with those numbers, but on a cable channel, it did very well. Here's the press release from thefutoncritic.com:

Burbank, CA (Aug. 9, 2005) – The premiere of ABC Family’s new original scripted drama BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE tied channels’ record for best series launch (WILDFIRE, June 20) in key demos with a 0.7 Adults 18-34 rating and 1.0 Women 18-34 rating on Monday, August 8 (9:00 – 10:00 PM ET/PT). The series improved by double and triple digits versus the prior four week time period averages with 133% in Adults 18-34 (0.7 vs. 0.3), 50% in Adults 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.4), 233% in Women 18-34 (1.0 vs. 0.3), 125% in Women 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.4), and 86% in HH rating (1.3 vs. 0.7).
The BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE premiere increased from its WILDFIRE lead in with Adults 18-34 (0.7 vs. 0.6), Women 18-34 (1.0 vs. 0.7) and Women 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.7), while holding in Adults 18-49 (0.6). The debut delivered a 1.3 HH rating and 1.6 million total viewers.
ABC Family’s original scripted drama WILDFIRE continues to deliver strong ratings, with its seventh original episode airing Monday, August 8 (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT) posting its best numbers since week two with a 1.6 HH rating and 2.0 million total viewers.
