| Dawson/Mr Brookes debate(read my debate ideas thread 1st) |

|
| Debate for Dawson& Mr Brookes. Did Dawson help Mr Brookes to put down his emotional defences? Do you think dawson saw Mr Brookes as a grandfather figure in the end or as a friend? |

| I adore the Mr. Brooks storyline..... Dawson was at one of the lowest points of his life when he met Mr. Brooks..... Dawson had lost interest in what he loved and that was making movies.... He lost the love of his life to his best friend and just let everything go..... and Mr. Brooks did the same thing.
Dawson saw how lonely Mr. Brooks was and how talented he was.... I think Dawson finally realized that he needed to move on with his life and making movies was going to be part of it with or without Joey...... I think Dawson grew up ALOT !!
I think Mr. Brooks saw Dawson as a son, a ray of light..... I think the influence was more on Mr. Brooks side.... |

| I agree cinn, Dawson did grow up a lot. I think he saw what Mr Brookes had become & as much as dawson admired him, he didn't want to end up lonely like him so made the decision to dust himself down, accept Pacey & Joey & move on with his movie interests. I believe they were good for each other. Dawson helped Mr Brrokes get back in touch with his caring emotional side & let go of all his bitterness, Mr Brookes helped dawson on the way to realising his dream & how to get it, I too think he saw dawson as a son/grandson type figure & grew fond of him. |

| This is one of the main reasons to me season four is my fav,
like the both of you said above, mr brooks helped dawson grow not just as a person but as a filmmaker. you could say that having mr brooks in dawsons life lead him to where he ended up. granted being with gretchan helped dawson. i think it was just being with a person like mr brooks which gave dawson a " a breath of freash air " so to say.
With out mr brooks in season four i think dawson would have difted through the last two seasons and never furfilled his dreams, he would have been the one to stay in capside and run his parents business. |

| Dawson glimpsed his future in Mr. Brooks and he was not pleased. Meeting Mr. Brooks helped Dawson let go and try to find someone besides Joey. That was major for him. I think it also helped him deal with Pacey (and his betrayal :? )
For Mr. Brooks - he finally got to connect with someone after leaving in all these years of isolation. He got to hang out with Grams, he went to a holiday party...it was good for him. Some say what we leave behind is what we defines us...whether it be children, a business, art....I tihnk Mr. Brooks got to leave behind a lasting influence on a young person, something that would probably prove to be even more important that his body of film work. Dawson was forever changed by knowing Mr. Brooks. |
