Out with the Old, In with the new

I was rewatching the early episodes of season 3 this morning, and something joey said about dawson got stuck in my head. when she was accusing him of selling out after taking his posters down, she said [quote:f0474e411b]Out with the old, in with the new, huh?[/quote:f0474e411b] i thought about it and it seems that this really is what dawson does. he's perfectly happy going off with other girls, conveniently forgetting that he is in love with joey every time he meets somebody new. i think that this could prove he doesn't love her as much as he says he does- maybe he just uses his feelings for her to stop her from going out with anybody else because he's afraid of losing his safety net. obviously i don't think he does this on purpose, but it's just a theory im starting to develope... Does anybody else have thoughts on this?

Yeah, but you have to remember what Joey said to Dawson in the finale of Season 2........ I mean she said some pretty rotten things to him... The had no contact throughout that summer... He had no idea what he was coming home to......... Dawson did love Joey, that is y he didn't sleep with her in Season 3!! It in no way shows that he really didn't love her..............

i agree with pj sailin on this one. even joey says at some pint that she is scared he only says he loves her cos he is frightened of losing his safty net.

Yep even Joey knew it. Dawson didn't love her in that passionate way. She was just his constant. All that talk of romance and soulmating just confused their dynamic - they were friends. I think Joey realized this in season 2 when she broke up with Dawson for the first time. I think it was more than just her need to find herself. I think she also was sort of let down by the reality of a relationship with Dawson, after years of fantascizing about him. I think they lacked passion.
