| Does anyone know why they killed of Mitch in the 5th season? I've watched all the seasons many times, but I haven't thought about it before...
He was a great character and it's too bad he couldn't last til the end.
I guess the reason the kille dof Abby was that she wasn't so polular, but that can't be the deal with Mitch, can it? |

| I agree sway, Mitch was popular I don't see any reason to have killed him off either unless is was down to the actor and not the character, prehaps he didn't want to carry on for some reason, maybe some research is needed! |

| If I'm not mistaken we have talked about this before, and Double D (dukedevils) explained it......
If I remember right, it was the show that killed Mitch off... I don't think John wanted to leave the show........ But I'm not sure I will do some research and see what I can find out. |

| They killed off Abby, not because she was unpopular, but because Monica Keena wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend who was in LA. So she asked to be dropped from the series.
There are all sorts of stories as to why Mitch was killed off, think it might have just been a short term ratings grab, but there is also a story that he and Beeky were an item but that is just too typical of speculation to give it much credibility. |

| For almost 2 seasons, the love triangle was basically all what the show was about. After that, few things could have replaced it and gained as much attention as it did. An unexpected death was one of them. I think they did a good job, the show was in desperate need to focus in something else. There must have been lots of other reasons why they killed Mitch off, but this is what makes sense to me.
The fact that he was such a popular character is what I think made The Long Goodbye so special and emotive.
However I'm not so sure if my opinion would be the same if they had killed Grams off instead :? :( |
