Because Jack was gay and he knew he was gay from the beginning.... I don't think Jack and Jen would've been so magical if they would've had a relationship....... It was part of the charm............. They loved each other and that was the most important thing to both of them............ I think one of the things that made Jack & Jen so special is that it was so innocent, simple & safe, there were no boyfriend, girlfriend complications, just a deep & fulfilling friendship. They understood each other in a way no one else could.
