For you DCgurl, a debate on Pacey & Doug. To get this going...........Do you think Pacey & Dougs Father had a big influence on their relationship & how they saw each other?

Honestly, I don't think we can really answer that question, because there really wasn't enough about their father on the show..... I think Pacey's outlook on life was challenaged because his father make him feel worthless.... Doug and Greh seemed to have issues with their father as well..... I think Doug was the best treated of the bunch.... But I don't think any of them was treated much better then the other.

I agree with cinn97 we didnt really see enough of their early childhood to gage just how they were treated and there wasnt a great deal of imput form paceys mum and dad in the show apart form the odd episode here and there... However from what we do know...yes i do think it played a part - he obvioulsy wanted to impress his dad and try to make his dad see he wasnt worthless and i reckon that is why pacey hated failure so much Obvioulsy no one wants to fail at anything for themselves...we all want to do well...but when you know your failure is going to be ill recieved by your father it makes it that much harder to deal with people want their parents to be proud and for your parents to accept you as you are and love you for what you are - paceys dad i get hte impression didnt and pacey was well aware of that fact and how can that not affect your relationship or the kind of person you are? Pacey and Dougs relationship too was affected by the unfair treatment and the favouritism....but deep down i feel that it was a surface show between pacey and doug and that they both really cared for eachother

You have a few episodes to evaluate, how John Witter treated his sons. Mainly in season 2....John had low expectations of Pacey until the birthday episode in season 4..

Ive allways thought since how pacey and doug acted to each other in season one that, Mr.witter made a large diffence between the two of them, doug had followed in his footsteps and pacey was allways doing badly in school, i believe in the last episode pacey tells joey of how after a baseball game his father had belittled him all night and then the next morning he over heard his father saying" Well atleast i have you". So i think even at a young age pacey felt rejected by his father no matter what he did, so he gave up. since doug allways tryed to be the favoet son i think him and pacey could never see eye to eye until much later in the show, hench doug coming out, and him showing just how jealous of pacey he was. i could be way off but thats my two cents
