| I would have to say Gretchen was the best for Dawson cause y'know, I'm a strong Witter/Potter,
Just another way of saying it  |

| I'm back with my pro Dawson/Joey stance! Gretchen was a beautiful and intelligent woman but I never saw she and Dawson ever being anything more than what they were. I do not believe in the notion of age difference being a reason for incompatibility, but I think this might be the case for Grecthen/Dawson. He felt sooooooooo out of place at the "girls night out" in "Hopeless" after first getting his hand stamped for being underage and again when the topic of all of Gretchen's past relationships came up. It wasn't his fault and it wasn't her fault, it was just the gaps in their ages. What do you think? |

| i think you're justified with the age difference thinking. dawson was 17 and gretchen was 21 (22?) now, that's only 4 or 5 years but at 17 and 22 those years can make a big difference. at 22 i dated an 18 year old and it was extremely difficult for me to get over those insecure 'old' feelings. but for dawson and gretchen, their relationship was so much more than age. and her maturity was one of the reasons he was challenged to see things differently and grow as a man. i think he knew and recognized that and was why he got over the 'young kid/underage' feeling so quickly. they broke up because they were both in different stages of their life as a direct result of their age. but if they were to meet up, at say 26 and 31, i don't think it would be a factor. |

| DBF, why do you think they were meant to be together.? |

| I believe it all goes back to the notion of the often used, often mis-used word of "soulmates". I have watched all the seasons of DC over and over and keep seeing the same thing...Dawson and Joey's undying love for each other. I know at first it was all Joey being hopelessly in love with Dawson and the feelings were never returned, Dawson didn't see it, he didn't feel it, he didn't and couldn't fathom Joey as anything more than his best friend. But as some time went by, Dawson did realize that he had more feelings for Joey than friendship. I believe that once that happened and they both knew their "true" feelings for each other, that is something that has or never will change. Whether or not they are currently together, they will always be the other's soulmate. Although my name states I am Dawson's Biggest Fan, that doesn't mean I 100% agree with everything he's done. I did not like when he first told Pacey he didn't care if he went out with Joey and then changed his mind after he realized he had feelings for her after all. I did not like when Dawson asked Pacey to "watch over" Joey after she offered herself to him and he turned her away. But I think all of these things made their relationship stronger and made then grow into the persons they are. Does this make any sense to anyone besides me? |
