I think the 3 months alone at sea really gave them a super start. They have always had a connection, even when they were not "friends". I also still hold on to my theory that Pacey liked Joey to some extent long before Andie. Of course, I don't want to diminish P/A's relationship....but I just think that they were each other's first love but were not meant to be anything more than that. Pacey and Joey's relationship was deeper and harder. you need to work for a realtionship and have that sense of 'wrongness' to get the fire burning. P/A could be together with no hitches but P/J had to work for it.
